On the Bluebridge ferry in the Marlborough Sounds. From Picton back to Wellington.
We’re currently at Auckland airport, waiting for our flight to board. We had such a fantastic trip! And after only two 11-hour flights via Hong Kong, we’ll be back in Düsseldorf.

Christchurch panorama from Mt. Pleasant.

Angelus Hut at sunrise.

Robert Ridge Route panorama. On day 3 of our hike.
A few impressions from our 3-day walk in the Nelson Lakes National Park.
On the first day, we only started at 5pm. But that wasn’t a problem, since we had to walk for only 2 hours before reaching the first hut: Coldwater Hut. That first day was easy walking alongside Lake Rotoiti. And we had the hut to ourselves – which was a first for us.

Day number two was more challenging: we went up The Cascade route to Angelus Hut – climbing for ~1000m – which meant walking uphill pretty much all day (for approx. 6 hours). So we were a little exhausted when we arrived at the hut. And the setting was truly rewarding!

On day three, we walked alongside the Robert Ridge Route, which – as the name already suggests – leads along a ridge with spectacular views to all directions. (I haven’t got much photos from that day, because I shot a roll of black and white film, which I haven’t developed, yet.)

Camping coffee.
Visiting Don and Rankers’ Koha Campground near Motueka. Travellers can stay here for free in exchange for leaving some reviews for the Rankers homepage.

Bathing day in Golden Bay.
Mike’s house has an outdoor bathtub, overlooking the mountains to the west. Great for a sunset bath.

Washing day in Golden Bay.

Overlooking Golden Bay in the morning.
My colleague Mike was so very kind to let us stay in his house for a few days. It’s off-grid, 500m up a mountain, overlooking Golden Bay. It was amazing up there and we really enjoyed it! Thanks, Mike!
(This is one of three 120 negative that I did get scanned.)

Got her first real fruit ice-cream (and me, too!). Happy times!

Horse, faster horse. Wairoa.
