215/365: At the Cliffs of Moher.
214/365: Spent the day on the beautiful Dingle peninsula. This is a section of the Slea Head drive.
213/365: A celtic cross and the Round Tower at the Rock of Cashel.
212/365: When in Ireland…
For some unexplainable reason, we were drawn to the next best Irish pub, once we had set foot on Irish ground and set up our tent.
211/365: The good life. We found a great freedom camping ground right next to a beach at Poppit Sands, near Cardigan in South-West Wales. It was finally sunny and warm(-ish) again, so we didn’t have to cook in the rain, or half inside the tent. We could just relax, walk along or lie on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.
210/365: Us on the Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales (886m).
209/365: Cardiff Castle. With seagull.
208/365: After leaving Woolacombe, we spent the day driving and and trying to find a nice campsite. Towards the evening, we finally found a good one near Bristol.
(It’s apparently not common in the UK that campgrounds have a common room or even just a kitchen where you could sit down. But we found one that at least had a table under a little roof. It was still a bit cold and slightly wet, though, but good enough to do some work.)
We spent the day mostly working as documented here. ;-)
207/365: Camped our first night in the UK. It was a lovely spot with a nice view. But the next morning it was pretty stormy and rainy, and so we decided it’s better to leave. At least our (borrowed) tent hold up pretty well – others where not so lucky and had partly or completely damaged tents.
206/365: I had a little Martin Parr moment on this beautiful day at the Woolacombe beach.
205/365: James and Emily right after getting married.
We’re very happy for them! They are such a nice couple. And we had a fantastic time on their wedding day.
We met in New Zealand a little more than 3 years ago, when they were travelling the country. They were our first couch-surfing guests and we had a great weekend together. We kept in touch ever since.
204/365: We got a room with a view in our hotel in Woolacombe, where the wedding takes place.
203/365: In the morning Alex invited us to The Berkeley (where he works) to have breakfast with him. And of course, it was fantastic.
Then we drove Elfi to Gatwick airport to catch her flight back home, and we made our way over to Devon to meet up with James & Emily, whose wedding we’re going to attend on Friday.
And, to our surprise, the highway goes straight past Stonehenge, and so I quickly snapped this photo.
