While we spent most of our time on the islands La Gomera and El Hierro, the first two nights we stayed on Tenerife. The day in-between was spent visiting Teide National Park. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go up El Teide itself – Spain’s highest mountain with approx. 3700m above sea level – because it was too windy and the cablecar wasn’t operating. But we nevertheless enjoyed the volcanic landscape of the national park, which is still at around 2000m altitude.
(Fortunately, we were lucky enough to have perfect weather on our last day on the islands, so in the end, we still got the opportunity to go up the mountain…)
